Positions for which we may have openings include:

Receptionist
Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, checking clients in and out, assessing the needs of the patient and/or reason for the visit, obtaining medical/vaccine history of new patients, updating client information client education, product sales, computer operation and data entry, financial transactions and basic accounting, filing, and front office and reception area maintenance.  Receptionists must have excellent verbal and communication skills, a patient demeanor in dealing with the public and a "people person" attitude.  Receptionists must be able to work weekends, stand on their feet for several hours at a time and possess the ability to multi-task.  All receptionists are required to take level one of the Certified Veterinary Assistant course offered by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Veterinary Technician
Veterinary technicians are responsible for hospital maintenance, assisting the doctors, laboratory procedures, radiology, client communication/education, medical procedures, pharmacy, operation and maintenance of instruments and equipment, inventory, daily treatment of hospitalized patients, assisting in the operating room and performing dental prophies.  All veterinary technicians must be able to lift at least 45 pounds, stand on their feet for long periods of time, have good verbal and written communication skills, and be available to work weekend shifts.  While employed at Rice Village Animal Hospital, all non-registered veterinary technicians are required to take all levels the Certified Veterinary Assistant course offered by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Kennel Technician
Kennel technician duties include assisting the doctor and/or veterinary technician, daily care of hospitalized and boarding pets (including walking and feeding and cleaning up after), assisting in the treatment area, and cleaning and maintenance of the facility and equipment.  All kennel technicians must be able to lift at least 45 pounds, stand on their feet for long hours, have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work holidays and weekends.  All kennel technicians are required to take level one of the Certified Veterinary Assistant course offered by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association.

Pet Groomer
Responsibilities of this position include: providing pet quality and breed standard cuts; providing professional bathing and spa services; discussing and documenting clients grooming requests and preferences; promoting grooming services to current and potential clients. 

The Pet Groomer & Stylist will be scheduled to work Monday-Friday beginning at 8am (or as early as 7am, if desired).

Candidates for the position should have a minimum of two years experience as a professional groomer and pet stylist, excellent knowledge of individual breed standards, excellent scissoring techniques, and physically able to handle and secure large and small dogs. In addition, successful candidates should have strong customer service, team spirit and communication skills.

This is a commission based position.  Health insurance is available, as are continuing education opportunities.  Must provide and maintain your own clippers, blades, scissors, combs and brushes.
